Slade Caldwell Homers, Gets on Base Four Times
Slade Caldwell went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a home run for Single-A Visalia on Wednesday, collecting two RBI and scoring twice in the process. The performance pushed Arizona's 2024 first-round draft pick's slash line up to .297/.481/.500 for the season with three home runs and nine stolen bases. Despite a 30.7 percent strikeout rate, the 18-year-old is impressing in his first taste of professional baseball, and the strikeout rate is offset by a strong 22.7 percent walk rate (37:50 BB:K) through 36 games. MLB's No. 99th-ranked prospect could be in the mix for a promotion to High-A later this season, but is a few seasons away from major league duty. With solid power and tons of speed, the left-handed slugger is a prospect to keep an eye on for dynasty leagues.
