Shohei Ohtani, Jared Walsh Out Against Southpaw
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani and first baseman Jared Walsh are not in the starting lineup on Friday against Minnesota Twins left-hander J.A. Happ. Ohtani has been a revelation at the plate and on the mound in an MVP-type season thus far, but he's gone just 4-for-24 (.167) with no home runs and four RBI in 27 plate appearances in the last six games. He'll surely snap out of it eventually, though, and fantasy managers wouldn't want to miss his next explosion. Walsh has been swinging a hot bat this year as well, but he'll rest against the lefty. Justin Upton is the DH and is hitting cleanup, while Phil Gosselin is at first base and hitting second against Happ. Upton just returned from the injured list but was hitting the ball well before his injury. He has considerable power upside against the soft-tossing Happ. Gosselin has been a nice fill-in for the Angels, but he's a low-upside daily consideration and is hitting just .205 (9-for-44) in July and hasn't homered since June 30.
