Ryan Zimmerman Could Play Beyond 2021
4 years agoWashington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman signed a one-year, $1 million deal for the 2021 season and said that he might stick around longer than just one season. The 36-year-old two-time All-Star is the team's longest-tenured player but opted out of the 2020 campaign due to concerns surrounding COVID-19. Zimmerman's playing time will likely diminish after the team acquired switch-hitting first baseman Josh Bell from the Pirates last month. A second season with the designated hitter in the National League would surely help the veteran's chances for more at-bats, but even then he'll be one to avoid in most mixed fantasy leagues. The first-round pick in 2005 hit .257 with six home runs and 27 RBI in 171 at-bats in 2019.
