Ronny Mauricio Being Evaluated For Knee Injury
1 year agoNew York Mets rookie infielder Ronny Mauricio (knee) has left the Dominican Republic for more evaluation on a knee injury he sustained while playing for the Tigres del Licey in the winter league on Sunday. It's unclear how serious the 22-year-old's knee injury is at this point or whether he'll be ready for the start of spring training. Mauricio is one of New York's top infield prospect and he will be given a chance to compete with fellow youngster Brett Baty for the regular third base job in 2024. The Dominican switch-hitter has plenty of offensive upside due to his power and he also has a strong arm that makes him an option at other positions on the field, but he's going to need to improve his plate discipline in order to be an asset for his hit tool in his first full MLB season next year.
