Robert Stephenson Throwing Bullpen Sessions
Robert Stephenson (biceps) threw his third and most recent bullpen session on Aug. 5 as he works back from a stretched nerve in his bicep. Stephenson made just two appearances in late May before the injury forced him to the 10-day IL, and the Angels have since moved the 32-year-old to the 60-day IL. Stephenson is eligible to return whenever he's ready, which could be later this month. In 2023, his most recent full season, Stephenson put up a 3.10 ERA with a .88 WHIP and 77:16 K:BB in a combined 52 1/3 innings between Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay. The Angels then signed Stephenson to a three-year, $33 million contract in free agency, but they've gotten nothing from the investment so far. He missed all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery and has thrown only one inning this year.
