William Contreras Idle in Series Finale
William Contreras is sitting out of the series finale on Wednesday against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at American Family Field. Eric Haase will do the catching for rookie right-hander Jacob Misiorowski and will bat in the nine-hole against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Contreras will get a breather against a tough pitcher after starting each of the team's last 17 games. The 27-year-old Venezuelan backstop has been quiet in the month of June, hitting .208 (15-for-72) with a homer, four doubles, eight RBI, 13 walks and 18 strikeouts in 87 trips to the plate over 20 games played. After making his second All-Star squad last year, he's been mostly a disappointment for fantasy managers in 2025, as he's currently slashing .241/.354/.348 with only six homers, 34 RBI and five steals. Haase is an easy fade on Wednesday against Skenes.Source: MLB.com
Milwaukee Brewers catcher Braves to Trade Marcell Ozuna?
Marcell Ozuna has been "included in a lot of trade speculation." Olney notes, however, that due to the veteran qualifying for 10-and-5 Rights, he'd be able to veto any trade set forth by the squad. Atlanta has their work cut out for them in the NL East with the Philadelphia Phillies up by double-digit games and the New York Mets right behind them in the standings. The Braves have a little more than a month to dig themselves out of their current hole and determine whether to sell or buy at the deadline. If Ozuna does find himself in new digs, it's hard to imagine he'll be in a better situation, lineup-wise, than he is now. He's regressed a bit this season while dealing with a hip tear, but still sports a solid .252/.385/.414 slash line with 11 homers.Source: Buster Olney
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Atlanta Braves designated hitter Eugenio Suarez Out Again in Series Finale
Eugenio Suarez (hand) continues to sit out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the hosting Chicago White Sox after he was hit in the right hand by a pitch in Monday's victory in Chicago. Suarez underwent an MRI exam on Tuesday and is expected to miss a couple more days to allow the swelling in his hand go down. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Friday to see if the 33-year-old right-handed slugger is able to return for the series opener against the Miami Marlins. The D-backs have a day off on Thursday. Rookie Tim Tawa is starting at third base and batting ninth on Wednesday against White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. The Snakes can ill-afford a lengthy absence from one of the best power hitters in the game after placing star outfielder Corbin Carroll (wrist) on the injured list on Tuesday.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Josh Naylor Back in Wednesday's Lineup
Josh Naylor (shoulder) is back at first base and is hitting cleanup for Wednesday's series finale in Chicago against the White Sox and right-hander Sean Burke. Naylor injured his right shoulder on a swing in Monday's win over the White Sox and was then scratched from Tuesday's lineup as a result. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger is feeling better now, though, and should be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. Naylor has faced Burke just once in his career and picked up a hit. Although fantasy managers would prefer more power from the former Cleveland Guardians first baseman, they can't complain otherwise, as the Canadian has hit .303/.358/.467 on the year with an .824 OPS, nine homers, 51 RBI, 41 runs and 10 stolen bases. The D-backs will need more production from him with Corbin Carroll (wrist) going on the injured list this week.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Ryan Bergert Avoids Serious Injury
Ryan Bergert (forearm) was forced from Tuesday's matchup with the Washington Nationals after a line drive struck him in the fourth inning. Fortunately, initial X-rays returned negative, though the rookie noted he's still feeling sore. It's not shocking to hear Bergert is still in pain, considering the ball that hit him was traveling at 103.3 MPH. He yielded five hits, three earned runs, and three walks (four strikeouts) before his exit. The 25-year-old is lucky to walk away from the incident unscathed and can be considered day-to-day for now. However, it's unclear if he'll need to skip his next turn in the rotation.Source: AJ Cassavell
San Diego Padres starting pitcher Shawn Dubin Lands on Injured List, Pedro Leon Transferred to 60-Day IL
Shawn Dubin (forearm) on the 15-day injured list with a forearm strain. The team called up Triple-A reliever Jordan Weems in a corresponding move, and shifted Pedro Leon (knee) to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man roster. Dubin last pitched a third of an inning five days ago, so it's possible the injury occurred then, though it wasn't a retroactive designation. As of now, he'll first be eligible to return on Jul. 6. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss more than the minimum stay. Weems has a combined 4.66 ERA and 1.66 WHIP through 29 innings pitched in the minors thus far in 2025.Source: Matt Kawahara
The Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara reports that the Houston Astros have placed reliever Jesse Winker Slated for Rehab Assignment
Jesse Winker (oblique) is slated to begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend. Per DiComo, Winker will operate as DH by the end of the weekend. It's excellent news for the former Cincinnati Red, who's been shelved with an oblique strain since early May. Oblique injuries can be tricky, hence the long layoff, but the Mets could use Winker right now with their lineup slumping. Despite a mediocre .239/.321/.418 triple slash through 24 contests, he appeared to be heating up before his injury -- raising his average from .196 over a five-game stretch. The 30-year-old is eligible to return on Jul. 4 and could do so if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.Source: Anthony DiComo
SNY's Anthony DiComo reports that New York Mets outfielder Jonathan Loaisiga Exits with Injury
Jonathan Loaisiga (undisclosed) exited Tuesday's outing against the hosting Cincinnati Reds with an undisclosed injury. The 30-year-old was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh and was able to retire Spencer Steer before running into trouble. Loaisiga walked the next batter, and yielded back-to-back one-pitch singles before a double cleared the bases and tied the game at three apiece. He'd then exit with a trainer. There's been no news on what caused him to leave early, so expect an update in short order after New York runs him through the necessary testing.Source: Greg Joyce
New York Yankees reliever Matt Vierling Scheduled to Return to The Lineup Wednesday
Matt Vierling (shoulder) was scratched from Sunday's Mud Hens game with an illness and was still feeling it a bit on Tuesday. He's scheduled to return to the Hens Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Vierling experienced a brief setback in his rehab assignment due to this illness. Still, it does not appear to be anything serious, as he seems ready to return to action on Wednesday. After missing the first eight weeks of the season with a strained rotator cuff, Vierling proceeded to have a setback with the same shoulder in late May and has only had 11 plate appearances thus far with the Tigers in 2025 after slashing .257/.312/.423 last season. Since beginning his rehab assignment on June 13, he has gone 4-for-20 in five games played. It's possible he could join the Tigers as soon as this weekend, but the Tigers may want him to continue to see at-bats, as he has not played a lot thus far this season.Source: Evan Woodbery
Detroit Tigers outfielder Noelvi Marte Set to Begin Rehab Assignment With Double-A Chattanooga
Noelvi Marte (oblique) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga on Wednesday, MLB.com reports. Earlier in May, Marte felt something was off when trying to make a throw to first base after fielding a ground ball, and further testing revealed he had a grade two oblique strain. Marte has been out since, and just last week, he returned to live action, appearing in three games for the Reds' affiliate in the Arizona Complex League. He played a few games at third base and one at designated hitter. The decision to have him begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga is encouraging, as it shows signs of progression from the injury. Marte could slot back in as the primary third baseman for the Reds, as Jeimer Candelario was designated for assignment earlier this week. In 73 plate appearances with the Reds this season, Marte is slashing .294/.342/.515 with three home runs, 10 runs scored, and 17 RBI.Source: MLB.com

Ranger Suarez Shines Despite Phillies’ Offensive Struggles in Loss
Ranger Suarez (6-2) had a strong outing in Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to the Houston Astros. He pitched seven and 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Suarez took his second loss of the season on a night when the Phillies recorded just four hits. The 29-year-old is pitching to an elite 2.08 ERA in his eighth professional season. He owns a solid 1.03 WHIP with 59 strikeouts in 65 innings. Suarez ranks in the 99th percentile at limiting hard contact with a 27.8 hard-hit percentage. If he continues pitching deep into games for a contending Phillies team, Suarez can expect to rack up a lot of wins.Source: MLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies left-handed pitcher Sam Haggerty Swipes Three Bases, Produces Key Runs in Rangers Win
Sam Haggerty swiped three bases in Tuesday’s 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles. After pinch-hitting for Alejandro Osuna in the eighth inning, Haggerty drew a walk and quickly stole second and third, later scoring on a Jonah Heim sacrifice fly. He also stole a base in the tenth inning after reaching on an RBI fielder’s choice. Haggerty finished the game 0-for-1. The 31-year-old has raised his stolen base total to eight with his first multi-steal game this season. If Haggerty can maintain his solid .276/.349/.429 slash line, his baserunning value will help him secure more consistent playing time.Source: MLB.com
Texas Rangers outfielder Masyn Winn Homers in Win; Signs of Growth Emerging
Masyn Winn launched his seventh home run of the season in Tuesday’s 8-7 win over the Chicago Cubs. The blast came in the third inning off Jameson Taillon—a two-run shot on a 79.9 mph slider. Winn also added a double, finishing 2-for-4 with two additional RBI and another run scored. The 23-year-old is slashing .256/.324/.391 with a .715 OPS and .317 wOBA and is showing modest improvement in his third year. His walk rate is up slightly from last season at 8.3 percent. If Winn can make more consistent contact to pair with his elite glove, he could develop into a long-term impact player.Source: MLB.com
