Robert Suarez's Suspension Reduced to Two Games
Robert Suarez will drop his appeal after his suspension for hitting Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani was reduced to two games, league sources tell The Athletic's Dennis Lin. Suarez initially received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine from MLB last Friday after he was ejected on Thursday night for hitting Ohtani in the right shoulder in a game that featured a benches-clearing incident. The hard-throwing 34-year-old picked up his 22nd save of the season in the 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night, but he could begin serving his two-game suspension in Wednesday's series finale. San Diego has Thursday off before traveling to Cincinnati to face the Reds in a three-game series that starts on Friday. If a save situation arises for the Friars with Suarez out, it could be lefty Adrian Morejon who gets the nod.
