Chad Patrick Slated to be Primary Pitcher on Saturday
Chad Patrick is slated to be the primary relief option during Saturday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies. Curt Hogg of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted that Rob Zastryzny is expected to serve as the opener. Patrick has appeared in 12 games this season and has started in 11 of them. Through 57 2/3 innings of work, the right-hander has been able to hold his own through his first taste of MLB action. Across this stretch, Patrick has posted a 2.97 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP. Under the hood, he has generated a strong 5.9% barrel rate and a 3.89 xERA, which places him in the 48th percentile among qualified pitchers. This afternoon, fantasy managers should not target Patrick in DFS as he has only posted a modest 21.2% strikeout rate and will have a tough task facing a potent Philadelphia lineup.Source: Curt Hogg
Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Ben Brown Expected to Serve as Bulk Reliever on Saturday
Ben Brown is expected to serve as the bulk reliever during their contest on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. Drew Pomeranz is slated to open the game, but he is only expected to pitch one inning of work. Throughout the opening months of the season, Brown has been deployed primarily out of the rotation and has had mixed results. This afternoon, he will remain the primary option but will pitch out of the bullpen. Through 50 2/3 innings of work this season, Brown has held a 6.39 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP. Across this stint, Brown has struck out 64 batters and posted a solid 7.7% walk rate. However, he has generated a high 9.3% barrel rate with a hefty 45.7% hard-hit rate. This afternoon, Brown is best to fade in DFS given his inconsistent start to the season.Source: Jared Wyllys
Chicago Cubs right-handed pitcher Gordon Graceffo Sent Back to Minors
Gordon Graceffo to Triple-A Memphis and recalled right-hander Roddery Munoz from Memphis in a corresponding move. Graceffo will return to the farm for more seasoning after allowing 16 runs (13 earned) on 18 hits (one homer) while walking four and striking out 13 in 15 2/3 innings over nine appearances out of the bullpen in St. Louis. The 25-year-old also recorded his first career save while going 2-0. At this point, it's hard to envision the team's No. 16 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, becoming much of a fantasy asset, especially since it looks like he's destined for a relief role. The former fifth-rounder in 2021 out of Villanova was sporting a 5.71 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 16 strikeouts and five walks in his four starts for Memphis before being called up this year.Source: St. Louis Cardinals

Orioles Place Ryan Mountcastle on 10-Day Injured List With Hamstring Strain
Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a right-hamstring strain and selected the contract of outfielder Jordyn Adams from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. The O's also recalled infield prospect Coby Mayo from Norfolk and designated catcher Chadwick Tromp for assignment. Mountcastle will miss at least the next 10 days after tweaking his right hamstring in Friday's win over the Chicago White Sox. In his absence, Baltimore could use a platoon at the hot corner between Ryan O'Hearn and Emmanuel Rivera. Before his injury, Mountcastle had been a pretty mediocre contributor for fantasy managers in deeper leagues with a .246/.280/.348 slash line, .628 OPS, only two homers, 15 RBI, 19 runs scored and a stolen base in 187 at-bats.Source: Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles announced on Saturday that they placed infielder Freddie Freeman Aggravates his Ankle
Freddie Freeman (ankle) said that he aggravated his surgically repaired right ankle during a rundown in Friday night's win over the visiting New York Yankees. Despite tweaking his ankle, Freeman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in the 8-5 come-from-behind victory over the Yanks on Friday, so it didn't appear to affect him at the plate. Fantasy managers will want to check back later to see if the 35-year-old veteran is in the lineup for Game 2 of the series against the Yankees at Dodger Stadium on Saturday. The Dodgers will be without shortstop Mookie Betts the rest of the series due to a fractured toe, but he's not expected to land on the injured list. Freeman was on the injured list in late March due to a sprained ankle, so this injury will certainly be worth keeping a close eye on.Source: DodgersBlue.com - Matthew Moreno

Rob Zastryzny Serving as Opener on Saturday
Rob Zastryzny is set to serve as the team's opener on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park versus the hosting Philadelphia Phillies, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg. It's expected that right-hander Chad Patrick will serve as the bulk reliever once Zastryzny comes out of the game after one or two frames. In his lone opening assignment of the year so far, the 33-year-old southpaw threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts on May 19 against the Baltimore Orioles. Zastryzny will get a much tougher matchup this time around against the first-place Phillies and isn't a realistic streaming option for likely just one inning of work. In five total appearances this year in his second year in Milwaukee, he has thrown five scoreless innings with one walk and seven strikeouts.Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Curt Hogg
Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Alejandro Kirk Resting on Saturday
Alejandro Kirk will get the day off on Saturday versus the visiting Athletics at Rogers Centre. Ali Sanchez will do the catching for right-hander Braydon Fisher and will bat ninth against A's rookie right-hander Gunnar Hoglund. Kirk has minimal power for a catcher but is hitting a strong .296 (48-for-162) on the year as Toronto's primary catcher, including going 9-for-21 (.429) with four RBI and three runs scored in his last eight games since May 22. Sanchez, 28, will get the nod behind the plate on Saturday for just his fourth game of the season in his first year in Toronto. He's gone 2-for-8 so far with a double and three strikeouts. Sanchez has played in just 41 big-league games since debuting in 2020 with the New York Mets and has hit .181 (19-for-105) with no home runs and four RBI in 118 plate appearances.Source: MLB.com
Toronto Blue Jays catcher Dillon Dingler Homers, Drives in Three Runs in Three-Hit Game
Dillon Dingler went 3-for-3 with a walk, a home run, three RBI, and a run scored in Friday's 7-5 win over the Royals. The 26-year-old has been a top 12 catcher for fantasy thus far, hitting .303 with five home runs, 22 RBI, and 16 runs scored, with a .347 wOBA and a 126 wRC+. The former second-round draft pick has hit safely in 10 of the last 11 games, going 16-for-40 (.400) over that stretch, including a pair of doubles, a home run, and six RBI. The 26-year-old will face Michael Wacha on Friday, whom he is 1-for-5 off of in his career with one walk, but the young backstop could be a viable DFS play (if he gets the start) with the Tigers as heavy favorites and with one of the higher implied run totals on the slate.Source: ESPN
Detroit Tigers catcher Spencer Torkelson Hits Home Run No. 14 on Friday
Spencer Torkelson went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and one run scored on Friday in the 7-5 win over the Royals. The former first-overall draft pick continues to enjoy a resurgence at the plate after a disappointing 2024, now with 14 home runs and 42 RBI on the year. The 25-year-old is hitting .242, which is just below league average, but with a 12.7 percent walk rate, he's been able to record a solid .352 OBP with a .374 and a 145 wRC+. The right-handed slugger even dropped his strikeout rate to 21.9 percent in the month of May, which is slightly better than league average. Hopefully he can continue to produce for the rest of the season, but after going undrafted in most fantasy leagues before the season began, he's already far outperformed expectations.Source: ESPN
Detroit Tigers first baseman Trevor Larnach Homers in Four-Hit, Four RBI Game
Trevor Larnach had a big night at the plate on Friday, going 4-for-6 with a double, a home run, four RBI, and a run scored in the 12-6 extra-innings win over the Mariners. The left-handed slugger is up to eight home runs on the year and is now riding a mini three-game hit streak. He doesn't get many opportunities against left-handed pitchers, but is slashing .280/.357/.478 against righties. Not playing every day can be frustrating in season-long fantasy, but he can be deployed in good matchups for DFS. That could come as soon as Saturday when the Twins take on the Mariners again and RHP Bryce Miller (5.22 ERA, 1.54 WHIP).Source: ESPN
Minnesota Twins designated hitter Robert Suarez Strikes Out Three, Notches 18th Save
Robert Suarez picked up his league-leading 18th save of the year on Friday, securing the team's 3-2 victory over the Pirates. Suarez came on in the eighth inning after Jason Adam allowed a double and two walks to load the bases, but Suarez struck out Henry Davis to end the threat. The righty then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out two additional batters in the process. The 34-year-old has allowed six earned runs all season, five of which came in a single game against the Angels back on May 12, so he hasn't allowed any runs in 23 of his 25 appearances, posting a 2.22 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and a 20.0 percent K-BB%. With the Padres being one of the top teams in the National League, Suarez should continue to get plenty of opportunities to rack up additional saves.Source: ESPN
San Diego Padres closer Trent Grisham Homers, Drives in Two on Friday
Trent Grisham went 2-for-5 on Friday, belting his 13th home run of the year and collecting two RBI in an 8-5 loss to the Dodgers. The former first-round draft pick is in the midst of a career year, hitting .259 with a .386 wOBA and a 152 wRC+. The left-handed slugger is on pace to easily blow past his previous career high of 17 home runs and has been one of the better fantasy waiver wire pickups so far in 2025. The 28-year-old is posting a career low strikeout rate of 21.0 percent with a career high 82.2 percent contact rate and barrel rate with a BABIP in line with career norms, so all signs point to him continuing to perform.Source: ESPN
