Robert Suarez Strikes Out Three, Notches 18th Save
Robert Suarez picked up his league-leading 18th save of the year on Friday, securing the team's 3-2 victory over the Pirates. Suarez came on in the eighth inning after Jason Adam allowed a double and two walks to load the bases, but Suarez struck out Henry Davis to end the threat. The righty then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out two additional batters in the process. The 34-year-old has allowed six earned runs all season, five of which came in a single game against the Angels back on May 12, so he hasn't allowed any runs in 23 of his 25 appearances, posting a 2.22 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and a 20.0 percent K-BB%. With the Padres being one of the top teams in the National League, Suarez should continue to get plenty of opportunities to rack up additional saves.
