The Houston Astros have recalled infield/outfield prospect Shay Whitcomb to the major leagues. In a corresponding move, the Astros have placed outfielder Chas McCormick (oblique) on the 10-day injured list. Whitcomb has enjoyed an impressive power surge at Triple-A and is being rewarded with a promotion. Over his last seven contests at Triple-A Sugar Land, the No. 15-ranked prospect in the system has posted a stellar .467/.500/.967 slash line with five home runs and a 2:2 K:BB. Through 53 games, Whitcomb has posted a .275/.357/.599 slash line with 18 long balls. Whitcomb received a brief taste of the major leagues last season and held a modest .220/.304/.293 line with three doubles and an 8:5 K:BB across 20 contests. Fantasy managers should expect Whitcomb to compete for opportunities in the outfield and is worth an add in all standard formats given his power upside.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
