Spencer Torkelson Hits Home Run No. 14 on Friday
Spencer Torkelson went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and one run scored on Friday in the 7-5 win over the Royals. The former first-overall draft pick continues to enjoy a resurgence at the plate after a disappointing 2024, now with 14 home runs and 42 RBI on the year. The 25-year-old is hitting .242, which is just below league average, but with a 12.7 percent walk rate, he's been able to record a solid .352 OBP with a .374 and a 145 wRC+. The right-handed slugger even dropped his strikeout rate to 21.9 percent in the month of May, which is slightly better than league average. Hopefully he can continue to produce for the rest of the season, but after going undrafted in most fantasy leagues before the season began, he's already far outperformed expectations.
