Chris Godwin Improving, Remains Without a Timetable
Chris Godwin (ankle) is reportedly moving around well during practices. It's nice to hear that Godwin is making progress after a brutal dislocation of his ankle sidelined him for a majority of last season. Despite that, the Bucs gave Godwin a three-year, $66 million extension this offseason. The Bucs aren't going to push Godwin too hard, but it seems like he's doing well early in camp. He currently remains without a timetable to return. There's a chance that Godwin is eased back into action early in the season. If that happens, Jalen McMillan and rookie Emeka Egbuka would see increased snaps alongside Mike Evans in a three-receiver set.Source: Tom Pelissero
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Thomas Harrington Recalled from Triple-A
Thomas Harrington from Triple-A Indianapolis before their contest on Friday against the Colorado Rockies. Harrington made his MLB debut earlier this season and appeared in just two games. Through eight innings of work, Harrington allowed nine runs with eleven hits. The No. 4-ranked prospect in the system struck out seven hitters and allowed five walks. He has spent most of the campaign with Triple-A Indianapolis and has struggled to find success there as well, posting a 5.48 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP across 90 1/3 innings of work. During this stint, Harrington has tallied just 84 strikeouts. Fantasy managers should expect him to have a role as a long reliever, which will give him minimal fantasy upside.Source: Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled right-handed pitcher Jackson Chourio Could be Out a Month
Jackson Chourio's hamstring injury is "a little more severe" than initially though, according to manager Pat Murphy. The Brewers aren't quite sure of the extent of Chourio's hamstring injury, but he received a platelet-rich plasma injection and will be out for more than the 10-day minimum. When asked if Chourio could be out a month, Murphy said, "could be." This is pretty depressing for fantasy managers after reports kept coming out that the 21-year-old's injury wasn't that serious and that he could be in for a short stay on the IL. Now, we're looking at him potentially missing all of August due to a right-hamstring strain he suffered on Tuesday. The young power/speed threat should be stashed in an IL spot in all leagues regardless of how long he's out. In the meantime, Blake Perkins is a waiver-wire pickup in deep-mixed leagues.Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Curt Hogg
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Brice Matthews, Jacob Melton Optioned to Triple-A
Brice Matthews and outfielder Jacob Melton to Triple-A Sugar Land. This transaction opened a spot for infielder Jeremy Pena, who was activated off the injured list, and outfielder Jesus Sanchez, whom the Astros acquired shortly before the trade deadline. Matthews made his MLB debut earlier this season and flashed high power upside during this stint. Through 11 games, the top-ranked prospect in Houston has launched three home runs but held a rough 18:2 K:BB. Melton also made his MLB debut earlier this season and held a modest .206/.270/.265 slash line with just one extra-base hit. Fantasy managers should expect Sanchez to see nearly every opportunity in left field, while Carlos Correa and Pena will likely cover shortstop and third base, respectively.Source: Brian McTaggart
The Houston Astros have optioned infield prospect Yankees Eyeing Return for Aaron Judge Next Week
Aaron Judge (elbow) will take batting practice on the field in Miami on Friday before the series opener against the Marlins, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. Judge will then travel to Tampa on Sunday to take some live at-bats. The Yankees' goal is to activate him from the 10-day injured list as a designated hitter on either Tuesday or Wednesday at Texas against the Rangers. Judge landed on the IL with a flexor strain in his right elbow but is feeling better after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection in his arm earlier this week. The 33-year-old reigning American League MVP will be eased back in as the team's DH next week, which will shift Giancarlo Stanton to the outfield for the short term. Judge wasn't swinging the bat particularly well after the All-Star break, but he should be returned to starting fantasy lineups immediately when he's back.Source: MLB.com - Bryan Hoch
New York Yankees outfielder Tyreek Hill Hasn't Fully Understood the Offense in the Past
Tyreek Hill said that he didn't fully understand the offense the first three years he was in town, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. It's a bit unbelievable, but it didn't stop the Cheetah from leading the league with 1,799 receiving yards, 13 touchdowns and 112.4 yards per game in 2023. The speedy 31-year-old dealt with a wrist injury all of last year and also wasn't helped by the fact that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed more time with a head injury. As a result, Hill fell short of the 1,000-yard mark (959 yards) for the first time since 2019 as Miami's offense was more dink-and-dunk than explosive. His fantasy stock entering 2025 is down as a result, especially given Tua's shaky injury history. However, the five-time All-Pro seems very motivated and could easily bounce back if Tagovailoa stays on the field. He's ranked at RotoBaller as the WR12.Source: Miami Herald - Barry Jackson
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Antonio Gibson Won't Take Part in Friday's Scrimmage
Antonio Gibson (undisclosed) will sit out of Friday's scrimmage due to an undisclosed injury. Gibson also did not take part in the team's walk-through practice at training camp on Thursday. It's unclear what is ailing the 27-year-old, but it's likely that the Patriots are just being cautious. As things currently stand, Gibson is going to go undrafted in most fantasy leagues after the Patriots took RB TreVeyon Henderson in the second round back in April. Although Rhamondre Stevenson has his issues with ball security, he will remain ahead of Gibson on the depth chart in 2025 as long as he stays healthy. In his first year in New England in 2024, Gibson had 120 carries for 538 yards and one touchdown, adding a career-low 23 receptions for 206 yards through the air in 17 games (three starts).Source: NBC Sports Boston - Phil Perry
Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston reports that New England Patriots running back Cowboys Sign La'el Collins
The Dallas Cowboys are signing free-agent offensive tackle La'el Collins to an undisclosed deal on Friday, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Collins hasn't played in the NFL since 2022 with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he'll now reunite with the Cowboys after playing the first six years of his NFL career with the team. The 32-year-old veteran signed with the Buffalo Bills back in early April after missing all of the 2024 season with a knee injury. In his 89 games played in the NFL, Collins has made 86 starts. He could be forced into a starting role in 2025 with offensive linemen Tyler Guyton (knee), Tyler Smith (knee), Robert Jones (neck), Matt Waletzko (ankle) and Hakeem Adeniji (concussion) all injured right now in training camp.Joe Flacco Sees Most of First-Team Work on Friday
Kenny Pickett (hamstring) was back at training camp practice on Friday, but The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Dan Labbe reports that veteran Joe Flacco saw most of the first-team work. Pickett went through individual drills but was a spectator when the team broke off for team work. The 40-year-old Flacco is expected to win the starting QB duties heading into the 2025 season, but the QB competition is far from settled between Flacco and Pickett. Once Pickett is further from his hamstring injury, we'd expect him to continue rotating with Flacco with the first-team offense. Meanwhile, rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders will continue to work as backups as they try to prove to the front office and coaching staff that they belong in the team's plans in the future. Cleveland's QB situation should be ignored by fantasy managers.Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Dan Labbe
Cleveland Browns quarterback Marvin Harrison Jr. Misses Second Straight Practice
Marvin Harrison Jr. (knee) is missing his second consecutive practice on Friday due to knee soreness, according to Tyler Drake of AZ Sports. The second-year wide receiver's injury is not viewed as serious, but it's one to monitor to see how much time he ends up missing. Harrison Jr. added weight over the offseason after a relatively disappointing rookie year that saw him record 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 games. Building chemistry with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is critical for Harrison Jr., as the two often appeared out of sync in 2024. The 22-year-old is being drafted as a WR2 in fantasy, which is significantly higher than where he finished last season.Source: AZ Sports - Tyler Drake
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Justin Jefferson Works With Trainers on Friday
Justin Jefferson (hamstring) was on a side field during practice on Friday working out with trainers, according to Emily Leiker of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Head coach Kevin O'Connell said there still isn't a timeline on Jefferson's full re-integration at practices, but that he would ramp back up into some work this week and that updates have been "really positive." The 26-year-old All-Pro wideout hasn't practiced with the rest of the team for a full week now, but the Vikings are likely just being overly cautious with one of the best pass-catchers in football. The Vikes want to rest Jefferson but also know he's going to need reps with quarterback J.J. McCarthy before the start of the regular season. We would expect him to return to the practice field sooner than later. Unless Jefferson's absence drags on longer, he should still be one of the first receivers taken in fantasy drafts.Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Emily Leiker

Johan Rojas Optioned to Triple-A
Johan Rojas is the odd man out on the big-league roster after the Phillies added outfielder Harrison Bader and reliever Jhoan Duran at the trade deadline this week, as he was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. The move shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone after the team acquired Bader from the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. The 24-year-old Rojas has been solid with the glove in center field since debuting in the big leagues in 2023, but he's lacked any upside offensively. In 71 games this year, Rojas was hitting just .224 (34-for-152) with a homer, 18 RBI, 23 runs and 12 stolen bases in 172 plate appearances. In Rojas' 250 games at the big-league level, he's slashing a mediocre .252/.294/.340 with only six home runs, 73 RBI and 51 steals.Source: Philadelphia Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Saquon Barkley in Line for More Receiving Work in 2025?
Saquon Barkley saw a "heavy workload as a ball-carrier and a receiver" during the team's training camp practice on Friday, according to Andrew DiCecco of Inside the Birds. A heavy rushing workload is the expectation for Barkley, as he led the NFL in rush attempts (345) and rushing yards (2,005) on his way to winning the AP Offensive Player of the Year Award in 2024. However, Barkley's receiving workload was relatively limited, as his 2.1 receptions per game was the lowest single-season mark of his career. Philadelphia has typically not utilized its running backs in the passing game during the Jalen Hurts era, but the team has also never had a running back as dynamic as Barkley. Modest reception totals are basically the only flaw in Barkley's fantasy profile, so correcting that could put him on track for a second-straight RB1 finish.Source: Inside the Birds - Andrew DiCecco
Philadelphia Eagles superstar running back Juan Soto Back in Lineup Against Giants
Juan Soto (foot) is back in right field and will bat third in the lineup against the visiting San Francisco Giants and left-hander Robbie Ray at Citi Field. Soto was pulled from the game on Tuesday in San Diego against the Padres after fouling a ball off his foot, and he was also held out of the series finale on Wednesday as a precaution. After a scheduled day off on Thursday, the 26-year-old All-Star is back in action for the weekend. Fantasy managers will want to get him back into starting lineups everywhere despite the lefty-lefty matchup. In 22 career at-bats against Ray, Soto is hitting .273 with a home run and two RBI. The Dominican superstar is hitting under .250 on the year and struggled to a .210 average in July, but he remains a must-start in fantasy when active and has provided 25 homers, 62 RBI, 75 runs and 15 steals.Source: MLB.com

Jalin Hyatt Adds Weight Over the Offseason
Jalin Hyatt says he gained almost 20 pounds over the offseason and plans to play this season at 189-190 pounds. After playing at 171-172 pounds in 2024, Hyatt feels the added weight will help him improve his blocking and his ability to win contested catches, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. The third-year wide receiver has struggled to make a consistent impact so far in his NFL career. In 33 total games for the Giants, Hyatt has 31 catches for 435 yards and zero touchdowns. New York's top three receivers look pretty set heading into 2025, with Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton on the outside and Wan'Dale Robinson manning the slot. That leaves Hyatt competing with Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Zach Pascal, and Ihmir Smith-Marsette for a depth role.Source: ESPN - Jordan Raanan
New York Giants wide receiver Carlos Correa Back From Illness, Hitting Cleanup in Return to Houston
Carlos Correa (illness) is back in action on Friday and will start at third base and bat cleanup in Friday's series opener against the Boston Red Sox and right-hander Cooper Criswell at Fenway Park in his return to the Astros. Correa was held out of the lineup for the Twins on Wednesday after experiencing lightheadedness the day prior, but he's back now after an off day on Thursday after being traded to the Astros. The 30-year-old Puerto Rican spent the first seven years of his career in Houston and won a World Series with the club in 2017. With Jeremy Pena (ribs) returning from the injured list, Correa will move from shortstop to third base with Isaac Paredes facing a season-ending hamstring injury. Correa has hit .267 (90-for-337) with only seven home runs and 31 RBI in 2025, but he will be gaining third base eligibility for the 2026 campaign.Source: MLB.com
Houston Astros infielder Keenan Allen Visiting Chargers on Friday
Keenan Allen is visiting with the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, and there is "mutual interest in a potential reunion," according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The 33-year-old played last season with the Chicago Bears, but spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Chargers. Allen is not the same level of receiver he once was at his peak, but he's still a productive player. In 15 games with Chicago in 2024, he recorded 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns. The Chargers have Ladd McConkey in place as their WR1, but lack certainty behind him. Allen would step in as their starting slot receiver, and there would be no worries about him needing time to build chemistry with quarterback Justin Herbert. If he does end up signing with the Chargers, Allen would immediately become fantasy-relevant, particularly in PPR-scoring formats.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
Free-agent wide receiver Jeremy Pena Reinstated and Starting on Friday
Jeremy Pena (ribs) from the 10-day injured list before Friday's series opener on the road against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. Pena will return to shortstop and will bat leadoff against Red Sox right-hander Cooper Criswell, who will be making his first start of the year. The 27-year-old will be returning to Houston's starting lineup for the first time since June 27. The Astros reacquired former shortstop Carlos Correa from the Minnesota Twins at Thursday's trade deadline, but Pena will remain at short and Correa will slide over to third base. Pena was having a career year before his injury, hitting .322/.378/.489 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI, 48 runs and 15 steals in 317 at-bats, so fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups immediately this weekend.Source: MLB.com - Brian McTaggart
The Houston Astros reinstated shortstop Jonathan India Back in Royals Lineup
Jonathan India (shoulder) is starting at second base and batting leadoff for Friday's series opener on the road in Canada against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Royals pulled India out of the game early on Tuesday, and he didn't play on Wednesday before getting an extra day off on Thursday. The 28-year-old will return this weekend but hasn't really moved the needle for fantasy managers in his first year with the Royals. The former National League Rookie of the Year enters Friday's action slashing an empty .240/.322/.342 with five home runs, 32 RBI, 47 runs scored and no stolen bases in 383 at-bats. He was even worse in the month of July in 23 games played, going 19-for-87 (.218) with a homer, eight doubles, nine RBI and 14 runs scored in 101 trips to the plate.Source: MLB.com
Kansas City Royals second baseman Daulton Varsho Reinstated and Starting on Friday
Daulton Varsho (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list before Friday's series opener against the visiting Kansas City Royals and placed outfielder George Springer (concussion) on the seven-day concussion IL in a corresponding move. Varsho is starting in center field and batting seventh in his return on Friday versus Royals right-hander Michael Wacha. It will be Varsho's first game in the big leagues since May 31. He got a late start to 2025 and has only played in 24 games, and although he's hitting just .207 (19-for-92), he has cleared the fences eight times. Varsho isn't going to be an asset for fantasy managers in the batting average department, but hopefully he can continue his power stroke now that he's back. The 29-year-old has a hit in just two career at-bats against Wacha.Source: MLB.com - Keegan Matheson
The Toronto Blue Jays reinstated outfielder George Springer Goes on Concussion Injured List
George Springer (concussion) on the seven-day concussion injured list on Friday and reinstated outfielder Daulton Varsho (hamstring) from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move. Springer was hit in the head by a pitch on Monday. The 35-year-old was reportedly feeling better a few days later, but the Blue Jays will play it safe and hold him out until at least next Tuesday. It sounds like he'll have a good shot at being ready to play in Colorado against the Rockies by then. Fantasy managers will want to keep Springer rostered everywhere until he returns, as he's having a bounce-back campaign in 2025 with a .291/.383/.506 slash line, .889 OPS, 18 long balls, 57 RBI, 66 runs scored and 12 steals for the Jays. The newly acquired Ty France could serve as the primary DH for Toronto until Springer is back.Source: MLB.com - Keegan Matheson
The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Robert Hassell III Returning to Major Leagues
Robert Hassell III is being promoted to the major leagues. Hassell made his MLB debut earlier this season but struggled during his first stint. Through 21 games in D.C., Hassell posted a .218/.228/.269 slash line with one double, one home run, and one stolen base. However, since returning to the top level of the minor leagues, Hassell has been one of the most dominant hitters at Triple-A. Through 33 games, Hassell has held a stellar .336/.435/.519 slash line with six doubles, six home runs, and seven stolen bases. With the Nationals out of the playoff picture, they could opt to give Hassell nearly every day at bats as he looks to take the next step in his development. For now, he is worth a look in deeper five-outfielder formats given ability to hit for power and steal bases.Source: Washington Nationals
Washington Nationals outfield prospect Spencer Arrighetti has Outing to Forget on Thursday
Spencer Arrighetti (thumb) allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits (two homers allowed) while walking four and striking out five in 4 2/3 innings in his minor-league rehab start on Thursday for Triple-A Sugar Land against Triple-A Tacoma. It was Arrighetti's third rehab start, but first with Sugar Land. The 25-year-old threw 50 of his 79 pitches for strikes in the outing. Even though the results weren't pretty, the fact that he nearly threw 80 pitches means that Houston could activate Arrighetti from the 60-day injured list to make his next start in the big leagues for a rotation that needs the reinforcements. He would line up for a plus matchup against the Miami Marlins next week, too. He's been out since April 8 due to a freak right-thumb fracture, but Arrighetti should be fantasy relevant in mixed leagues the final two months.Source: Milb.com
Houston Astros right-hander Zach Ehrhard Sent to Los Angeles
Zach Ehrhard from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for right-handed pitcher Dustin May. In this return, the Dodgers also acquired outfield prospect James Tibbs III. Ehrhard was drafted by the Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Oklahoma State. Ehrhard made his professional debut at the High-A level following the draft and held a modest .156/.264/.195 line through 22 games. This season, Ehrhard opened the season with High-A and took a significant step forward, posting a .342/.471/.459 line. He was then bumped up to Double-A where he posted a modest .227 AVG with .717 OPS. Fantasy managers should expect Ehrhard to remain at Double-A in the Los Angeles system.Source: Boston Red Sox
The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired outfield prospect Cristian Javier Hit Around in Rehab Start
Cristian Javier (elbow) didn't fare very well in his fourth minor-league rehab start on Wednesday for Triple-A Sugar Land, allowing three earned runs on two hits while walking four and striking out three in 3 1/3 innings. He threw only 33 of his 64 pitches for strikes. The 28-year-old hasn't had great results in his four starts on the farm -- he has a 6.10 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 9:11 K:BB in 10 1/3 innings -- but the most important thing is that he hasn't had any setbacks in his recovery from Tommy John surgery in 2024. The Astros aren't going to rush Javier back off the 60-day injured list, and when he is finally activated, he is probably going to be eased in after making only seven starts last year. Fantasy managers are going to want to temper expectations for Javier in the final two months of the season.Source: Milb.com
Houston Astros right-hander Yankees Release Marcus Stroman
Marcus Stroman. In additional moves, the team added their recent trade acquisitions in right-handers David Bednar, Jake Bird and Camilo Doval and infielder/outfielder Jose Caballero to the active roster. Stroman leaves the organization after picking up his third win of the year on Thursday over the Tampa Bay Rays. The 34-year-old just was not very effective in his nine starts in the Bronx in 2025, sporting a career-worst 6.23 ERA (5.15 FIP) and 1.54 WHIP with only 26 strikeouts and 16 walks in 39 innings pitched. It remains to be seen if Stroman will latch on with another team before the end of the season, but if he does, it will likely come on a minor-league contract with no guarantee that he'll be back in the big leagues by October.Source: New York Yankees
The New York Yankees announced on Friday that they released veteran right-hander Gabriel Gonzalez Headed to Triple-A
Gabriel Gonzalez to Triple-A St. Paul. Gonzalez has been one of the most productive hitters in the Minnesota system this season and is being rewarded with another promotion. The 21-year-old opened the 2025 campaign with High-A and needed just 34 games to prove he was ready to move up to Double-A. At High-A, Gonzalez posted a .319/.378/.529 line with a .907 OPS. Then, at Double-A Wichita, Gonzalez continued to swing a scorching hot bat. Through 55 games, the outfielder posted an elite .344/.429/.509 slash line with 19 doubles, four home runs, five stolen bases, and a .938 OPS. Given his quick progression this season, Gonzalez should be in a great position to make his MLB debut in 2026.Source: Bobby Nightengale
The Minnesota Twins are promoting outfield prospect Dyami Brown "Explosive" in Jaguars Camp
Dyami Brown had the "best day of the wide receivers" in practice on Thursday and has shown "good chemistry" with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, according to John Shipley of Sports Illustrated. Brown is entering his first season in Jacksonville after spending the first four years of his career with the Washington Commanders. In 63 career games (10 starts) for Washington, he racked up 59 catches for 784 yards and four touchdowns. Brown has specialized as a downfield threat who can punish defenses over the top with his speed, which could be a nice fit alongside Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter in Jacksonville. The Jags are thin at receiver behind their two young stars, with Parker Washington and Austin Trammell profiling as Brown's main competition for the WR3 role.Source: Sports Illustrated - John Shipley
