The Cleveland Browns are hosting free-agent safety Rayshawn Jenkins for a visit on Friday. Jenkins most recently played with the Seattle Seahawks this past season. He finished with 53 tackles, two sacks, and one fumble recovery across 13 games (nine starts) in 2024. It was a down year for Jenkins who finished with 100-plus tackles in each of the two seasons prior to him joining the Seahawks. The 31-year-old could be a quality depth or rotational player on many organizations. The addition of Jenkins could be good for the Browns secondary to have him alongside Grant Delpit.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Friday that they officially re-signed linebacker Jack Cochrane after he signed his right-of-first-refusal tender. Cochrane will make $3.263 million in 2025. The 26-year-old will return to Chiefs Kingdom for his fourth season after he originally went undrafted out of South Dakota. In his three seasons with the Chiefs, he has racked up 42 tackles (29 solo) and one pass breakup in 47 games (one start). In 15 regular-season games (zero starts) last year, Cochrane had only five tackles (three solo). His most productive season came in 2023, when he had a career-high 28 tackles (21 solo) and a pass breakup in 17 regular-season games (one start). Cochrane played 296 snaps on special teams last season and only nine on defense, so we should expect him to return to a similar role with the Chiefs in 2025.

ESPN's Nick Wagoner thinks that defensive line is the San Francisco 49ers' biggest priority heading into this year's NFL draft, and they arguably need three new starters on the defensive line next to edge rusher Nick Bosa. They need significant upgrades after releasing starting defensive tackles Javon Hargrave and Maliek Collins and edge rusher Leonard Floyd this offseason. The good news is that this draft is deep on the defensive line, and it's why many pundits have San Fran projected to take Texas A&M defensive tackle Shemar Stewart early on. "This should be an all-trenches draft if [Kyle] Shanahan can resist picking skill players," said a rival NFC scout. It will be a pivotal draft for the Niners (they have 11 picks) after a disappointing and injury-riddled 2024 campaign that ended without a playoff berth.

Houston Texans safety Jalen Pitre has agreed to a new deal with the organization on Friday. The two sides have agreed on a three-year, $39 million extension, including $29.1 million in guaranteed money. Pitre was set to enter his final year of his rookie deal, but the Texans decided to lock him up before he could enter free agency. Pitre recorded 147 tackles, eight passes defended, and five interceptions during his rookie year in 2022. Since then, Pitre has seen his stats take a dip, but he has still been an above average defender on the field. This isn't a blockbuster move, but a reasonable one to keep a valuable defender on the roster for a good price.

ESPN's Jordan Reid writes that cornerback could be a position that the Las Vegas Raiders target early in this year's NFL draft, especially if they trade down from No. 6 overall. University of Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron is an option for Vegas if they trade back, according to multiple league sources. ESPN's Ryan McFadden also wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders go with an offensive lineman or cornerback with their first-round selection. The most obvious pairing, though, is for the Raiders to take Boise State running back
Ashton Jeanty, the Heisman Trophy runner-up. Vegas could use another instant-impact offensive threat to pair with second-year tight end
Brock Bowers, and new head coach Pete Carroll is no stranger to taking a RB in the first round -- Seattle took
Rashaad Penny 27th overall in 2018. During Carroll's 14-year tenure in Seattle, he took six offensive players in the first round.

Although nothing is set in stone, ESPN's Matt Miller writes that there is an expectation that the Jacksonville Jaguars will take Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham with the No. 5 overall pick in this year's NFL draft. However, a scout recently told Miller not to rule out Jacksonville going with an offensive lineman with their first-round pick. New general manager James Gladstone comes from the Los Angeles Rams, who have used high picks to bolster the trenches on both sides of the line in recent seasons. ESPN's Michael DiRocco thinks a best-case scenario would be Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter being available when the Jaguars are on the clock, but that's unlikely to play out. Adding Hunter to an offense that already includes
Brian Thomas Jr. would be extremely helpful as quarterback
Trevor Lawrence looks to bounce back in 2025.

ESPN's Jordan Reid writes that there seems to be three potential outcomes for the New York Giants at No. 3 overall in this year's NFL draft, assuming the Tennessee Titans take Miami quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall. There three options are Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, and Colorado QB
Shedeur Sanders. The offseason additions of veteran quarterbacks
Russell Wilson and
Jameis Winston give the Giants flexibility to add the best player available when they are on the clock, and general manager Joe Schoen stressed at the league meetings recently that the team would only go with a signal-caller "if the value was right." Carter could help a lethal pass-rush trio with Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Hunter would give the G-Men intriguing possibilities on both offense and defense. As things currently stand, Sanders could be looking at all fall outside of the top three picks.

Texas A&M pass-rusher Shemar Stewart visited with the New England Patriots on Thursday and is also scheduled for a top-30 visit with the San Francisco 49ers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Stewart is also scheduled to visit with the Chicago Bears. Stewart is a puzzling NFL prospect who could end up being a steal for the team that selects him in the NFL draft at the end of this month. The 21-year-old defensive end didn't become a starter for the Aggies until last year and had only 1.5 sacks, seven QB hurries and 5.5 tackles for loss in 2024. He finished his three seasons in college with 65 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Despite his lack of production in college, Stewart has intrigued NFL teams with his size (6-foot-5, 267 pounds), speed (4.59-second 40-yard dash) and explosiveness off the defensive line.

The Philadelphia Eagles hosted Penn State safety Jaylen Reed on a top-30 visit on Thursday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. While the Eagles don't really have any glaring holes at any key positions after coming off a Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs, they could use a playmaking safety after trading C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans for Kenyon Green this offseason. The 22-year-old was an honorable mention in the Big Ten in 2024 and led the Nittany Lions with 98 total tackles while also recording 2.5 sacks and a career-high three interceptions in all 16 games. In his collegiate career over 50 games, Reed had 181 tackles, five interceptions and 12 pass deflections. Reed is athletic and versatile in a defensive backfield and was often asked to over the opponent's top pass-catchers in college.

Per his agent Drew Rosenhaus, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter's (foot, shoulder) medical recheck in Indianapolis on Thursday showed that the stress reaction in his foot is healing. There has been improvement and no surgery will be needed. "It should be a non-factor with the teams at this point," Rosenhaus said. In addition to a foot injury he's recovering from, a shoulder injury also prevented him from working out at the scouting combine and his school's Pro Day. However, the 21-year-old defensive end plans to host a private workout for NFL teams later this month before the draft. The reigning Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year shouldn't have his draft stock affected by the two injuries, and there's still a chance he could go as high as No. 2 overall to the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland is expected to take either Carter or Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter at second overall.

The Los Angeles Rams are re-signing linebacker Troy Reeder to a one-year deal, according to FOX NFL reporter Eric Williams. Reeder began his career with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Delaware in 2019 and spent three seasons with the team before one year with the Chargers and two years back with the Rams. Overall, the 30-year-old has racked up 310 tackles (180 solo), five sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and 13.5 run stuff in 89 career games. He appeared in just six names last year and logged 46 total tackles. Depending on what happens during the 2025 NFL Draft, Reeder will likely enter next season as the backup to Nate Landman at inside linebacker.

The Carolina Panthers are continuing to evaluate quarterback
Bryce Young, and adding high-caliber pass-catchers around him will be critical in that process. However, the team ranked last in total yards allowed per game (404.5) last season and is expected to use most of its nine picks in the 2025 NFL Draft to address that side of the ball. According to Panthers reporter David Newton, seven of the nine picks being used on defense is a fair estimate, and it's almost a guarantee Carolina will use its first-round pick on a front-seven defender. Georgia edge rushers Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker are potential targets in the top 10 of this month's draft. In a weak overall wide receiver class, Carolina could wait until the later rounds to address that need.

Texas A&M pass-rusher Shemar Stewart is scheduled to visit with the Chicago Bears, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. In addition to the Bears, Stewart has been closely linked to the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons during the pre-draft process. Sports Illustrated has Stewart projected to the 49ers in the first round at the end of this month. The 21-year-old defensive end only had 4.5 sacks in three college seasons, but he's extremely gifted athletically and stands at 6-foot-5, 267 pounds and ran a 4.59-second 40-yard dash. The Miami native has a rare combination of six, length and explosiveness as a pass-rusher, but he'll need to be coached up to better utilize his athleticism so that he can be more productive at the NFL level. Chicago is in need of adding some pass-rushing help alongside Montez Sweat.

Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J. Watt, who is entering the final year of his contract in 2025, is currently negotiating a new deal with the team, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. For what it's worth, Watt revealed an Instagram post on Wednesday of him flashing a peace sign, perhaps indicating a rocky start to the negotiations. The 30-year-old was a Pro Bowler for the seventh straight season in 2024 and had 61 tackles (40 solo), 11.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, 27 QB hits and a league-leading six forced fumbles in 17 regular-season starts. He dropped down in the sack department after leading the league with 19 in 2024, but Watt still led the Steelers in sacks and remained a must-start in IDP fantasy leagues, finishing third in fantasy points as a defensive lineman. Although Watt and the Steelers might not be close to an extension right now, we'd be surprised if they don't get something done.

The Cincinnati Bengals signed free-agent linebacker Joe Giles-Harris on Wednesday, according to the team on X. The veteran entered the NFL in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of Duke and has spent time with five NFL organizations, appearing in 22 games for three of them. Overall, Giles-Harris has accumulated 30 tackles (16 solo), one sack, and one run stuff in his career. He played in three games for the Patriots and two games for the Jaguars a season ago. While he's unlikely to push for meaningful playing time in 2025, he could earn a spot as a special teamer or top reserve linebacker under new defensive coordinator Al Golden.
