Packers Won't Tender Tim Boyle
4 years agoThe Green Bay Packers will not tender impending restricted free-agent quarterback Tim Boyle, which seemingly moves Jordan Love up as Aaron Rodgers' primary backup to enter the 2021 season. Boyle will become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins next Wednesday. The move means that the Packers could be comfortable with Love, their 2020 first-round pick, backing up Rodgers this year after he was third on the QB depth chart in his rookie season. Boyle made the active roster as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and was Rodgers' primary backup the last two seasons. He appeared in 11 games, mostly in mop-up duty late in games. Boyle doesn't have much experience, but he has a big arm and some playmaking abilities within the pocket.
