San Diego Padres starting pitcher Nestor Cortes (elbow) was activated off the 60-day injured list on Sunday. The southpaw was recently acquired by the Padres from the Milwaukee Brewers at the trade deadline. The Padres will basically get a fresh arm here with Cortes only making one start this season before landing on the shelf due to an elbow issue. In a corresponding move, right-hander Randy Vasquez was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday. That being said, Cortes figures to pitch in the rotation down the stretch of the season. Cortes is at least worth a look in deep leagues and could gain more steam.--Andy Webb
