Michael Pineda Throws Bullpen Session
Michael Pineda (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Thursday. The plan is for Pineda to throw a simulated game next before moving to a rehab start, likely sometime next week. The 32-year-old right-hander is recovering from right elbow inflammation and is getting closer to a return, barring any setbacks. His last start came on June 13 against the Houston Astros, when he allowed three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out one over four innings of work in a loss. Pineda is 3-4 overall on the season with a useful 3.70 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 51:15 K:BB in 11 starts over 56 innings pitched.
