Spencer Strider to be Given an Extra Day Before Next Start
Spencer Strider an extra day off before his next start, which will deprive him of a two-start week, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. Meanwhile, impressive rookie right-hander Hurston Waldrep will be afforded one more start in what has been a dominant month of August. The 26-year-old Strider's next appearance is scheduled to come on Monday in a tough matchup against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. He's been far from the form of his breakout 2023 season this year, mainly due to injuries, but Strider did bounce back with a seven-inning, one-run performance on Monday versus the Miami Marlins. Before that, he had surrendered 20 earned runs on 29 hits (seven homers) in 11 2/3 innings in his previous three starts. Fantasy managers will be hoping his good outing on Monday carries over into a showdown with the Cubbies.
