Ernie Clement Considered Day-to-Day With Hairline Fracture in his Finger
Ernie Clement (finger) underwent a CT scan of his left hand on Tuesday that showed a small hairline fracture at the bottom of his middle finger, according to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet. Clement also had 10 stitches in his left shin after a collision at third base on Tuesday, but he's considered day-to-day as of now and is expected to avoid the injured list. He is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the visiting Minnesota Twins. For however long the 29-year-old remains out, expect Addison Barger to handle third base duties in Toronto. Clement doesn't have much power or speed to speak of (nine homers, four steals in 460 at-bats), but he is a key role player for the first-place Blue Jays and is hitting a strong .274 (126 hits) with his contact-oriented approach at the plate.
