Michael Kopech Impressing In Camp
5 years agoChicago White Sox starting pitcher Michael Kopech (elbow) threw live batting practice on Friday and continues to impress in camp. “The ball is coming out of his hand loose and hot,” manager Rick Renteria said. Kopech, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, missed all of the 2019 season after having Tommy John surgery, but he has nasty stuff when he's healthy. He'll need to work on his command if he's to have success at the major league level, but the 23-year-old (24 in April) has front-of-the-rotation stuff. Expect the White Sox to be careful with his development and keep him in the minors for much of 2020, which makes him mostly a dynasty league or AL-only stash.
