Matt Chapman Still Out Wednesday
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays third baseman Matt Chapman (finger) remains out of action on Wednesday against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. Santiago Espinal will make another start at the hot corner for Toronto and will hit eighth in the batting order against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola. Due to inflammation in his right middle finger, the Jays have held Chapman out since last Saturday. If the 30-year-old is unable to return on Friday for the start of a series against the Cincinnati Reds after an off day on Thursday, he might be in danger of going on the injured list. Chapman hasn't done anything special in 2023, but he remains an everyday player (when healthy) in a potent lineup. He currently sits with a .255 average (108-for-423) with 15 long balls, 49 RBI, three stolen bases and 60 runs scored.
