Marcus Stroman Won't Return On Wednesday
1 year agoChicago Cubs right-hander Marcus Stroman (hip, rib) is now feeling right-rib discomfort and is getting checked out, so he won't make his return from the injured list to start on Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox. Instead, right-hander Javier Assad is expected to make the start for the Cubbies. It remains to be seen how much longer the 32-year-old Stroman will miss with his new injury. Stroman originally landed on the IL on Aug. 2 with right-hip inflammation. Hopefully his rib injury won't keep him out much longer, but fantasy managers need to keep him stashed in all leagues until he's back. Before his injury, Stroman had gone 10-8 with a 3.85 ERA (3.59 FIP), 1.24 WHIP, 50 walks and 111 strikeouts in 128 2/3 innings over 23 starts. He was named to his second All-Star squad earlier this year.
