Marco Estrada Can’t Escape Fourth Inning In Boston
7 years agoThe struggles of Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Marco Estrada continue. In a difficult matchup on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox, Estrada couldn’t escape the fourth inning, allowing four earned runs on seven hits across 3 2/3 innings. He only struck out one but didn’t issue any walks. Tuesday’s effort marks the second consecutive start Estrada has allowed four runs, his third out of his last four, and his seventh out of his last nine, though it is worth noting many of those matchups came against difficult offenses such as the Red Sox a few times, the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics. He now sits with an unsightly 5.68 ERA and 1.47 WHIP on the year, and while we couldn’t blame you for cutting bait, especially with another start coming up against the Yankees on Tuesday, he’s not going to continuously have matchups like these.
