Mac Jones Has Best Day Of Camp On Tuesday
1 year agoNew England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones' best day of training camp practice came on Tuesday, finishing the day 7-for-10 in team drills with two touchdowns in a final red-zone period versus the top defense. None of his individual plays were highlights, but he showed progress in the new offense. It was the best showing of any QB on the team this summer, and talk of any QB controversy between Jones and Bailey Zappe appears to have settled down. Head coach Bill Belichick hasn't straight out said that Jones will be the starter for Week 1 of the regular season, but it would be a big surprise if the 24-year-old isn't well on his way to earning that designation sooner than later. Jones should fare better in offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien's system, but it probably isn't going to produce much in terms of fantasy. Jones is a low-end QB2 option in two-QB, superflex leagues, at best.
