Brock Purdy Not Facing QB Competition
Brock Purdy (toe) continues to deal with a turf-toe injury that has now kept him out of three games, backup Mac Jones has stepped in admirably, prompting some to wonder if a quarterback controversy could be brewing in the Bay Area. Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show on Monday, NFL Insider Adam Schefter was quick to dismiss the idea. Purdy and the 49ers agreed to a five-year contract extension before the start of the season that keeps him tied to the team through 2030. So while Jones has been impressive in running Kyle Shanahan's offense and saying the right things along the way, Schefter does not believe there's any threat of him maintaining the job once Purdy returns to health.
