Luis Severino Not Starting Wednesday
1 year agoNew York Yankees right-hander Luis Severino will not serve as the traditional starter on Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox, with the Yankees choosing instead to use Ian Hamilton as an opener. The expectation is that the struggling Severino will be used as the bulk reliever after Hamilton goes an inning or two. Chicago has been a friendly matchup for opposing starters, but the 29-year-old Severino has been so bad this year that we can't recommend him as a streamer until we see signs of him turning a corner. In six starts since the start of July, Severino has surrendered 34 runs (32 earned) on 48 hits (nine homers) while walking 12 and striking out 22 in 25 2/3 frames. Not only has he been struggling, but he'll have a lower floor and ceiling as a streamer on Wednesday while coming out of the bullpen.
