Luis Mey Optioned to Triple-A on Thursday
Luis Mey was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, a day after giving up an earned run in his third straight appearance and fourth time in his last five appearances. The righty was effective when he came up, allowing one earned run over his first 8 1/3 innings in the majors (1.08 ERA), yielding just two hits and a walk while striking out 12 batters. The wheels came off lately, though, allowing five earned runs in 4 2/3 IP (9.64 ERA) on five hits and four walks while striking out just two. Cincinnati's 20th-ranked prospect will head back to the minors to work on some things, but with his strikeout stuff, the 23-year-old will probably make it back to the majors later this year, however, he won't be very relevant for fantasy unless he were thrust into the closer role.
