Dodgers Transfer Evan Phillips to the 60-day Injured List
Evan Phillips has been transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster for newly acquired right-handed reliever Alexis Diaz, the team reports. Phillips was placed on the 15-day injured list with right forearm discomfort on May 7, which was attributed to inflammation in his elbow. Since then, he hasn't resumed any throwing program. Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that "it's starting to get a little concerning" that Phillips hasn't begun throwing yet. The relief pitcher does not seem to be returning to action anytime soon. It seems likely he will be re-evaluated soon to give the Dodgers a better gauge of what his timeline for return looks like. In the meantime, look for newly acquired Diaz, Tanner Scott, and Alex Vesia to continue to get high-leverage, end-of-game situations for the Dodgers until Kirby Yates (hamstring) and Michael Kopech (shoulder) return from the Injured List.
