Leody Taveras Has Low-Grade Oblique Strain
2 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Leody Taveras (oblique) has a "low-grade" left oblique strain, according to general manager Chris Young. It sounds like Taveras will be ready in a couple of weeks and he isn't being ruled out for the Opening Day roster. Young spoke highly of Bubba Thompson's ability to contribute, even if his defense is ahead of his offense. Moving Adolis Garcia to center field is also a possibility early in the season if Taveras isn't ready. Fantasy managers should prepare as if the 24-year-old Taveras won't be ready for the start of the regular season. When healthy, Taveras should see most of the playing time in center field, but he'll probably need to hit to hold off Thompson. Taveras' speed is elite.
