Lack of Toyota Support Will Probably Foil Erik Jones's Effort at New Hampshire
6 months agoErik Jones starts 32nd at New Hampshire in this weekend's race. He's had some strong runs at this track in the past, as he earned two top 10s and even a third-place finish in the years he drove for Joe Gibbs Racing, the team that tends to dominate there. However, Jones has been noticeably slow on most ovals of a mile or less in length in the years since he moved to the No. 43 car. He has still been somewhat consistent with top twenty finishes in all three New Hampshire races in that car, but despite finishing 11th last year, he only ranked 27th in speed and he ranks a miserable 26th in speed on short speedways this season as Legacy Motor Club receives insufficient support from Toyota. Couple that with the fact that he is still recovering from his injury at Talladega and it's hard to envision Jones doing well.
