Ketel Marte Named NLCS MVP
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte didn't have a great Game 7 at all in the 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, but he was still named the National League Championship Series MVP. Marte finished Tuesday's winner-take-all contest 1-for-5 with a double and four strikeouts to extend his playoff hitting streak to 16 games. It's the longest streak by any player to start his postseason career in MLB history, and just one game shy of the overall record. Only three players -- Manny Ramirez, Derek Jeter and Hank Bauer -- have recorded a hit in 17 straight playoff games. The 30-year-old Dominican switch-hitter went 12-for-31 (.387) with a triple, four doubles, three RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored in the NLCS to send the Snakes to their first World Series appearance since 2001.
