The Seattle Mariners selected left-handed pitcher Kade Anderson out of LSU with the third overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft. The left-handed pitcher has spent his collegiate career at LSU. In 2023, Anderson made his collegiate debut and logged just 38 ⅓ innings to the tune of a 3.99 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP. He struck out 59 hitters. However, this past season, Anderson was one of the top pitchers in the nation, logging 119 innings with a 3.18 ERA and a strong 1.06 WHIP. He posted an impressive 13.9 K/9 while only serving up a total of 35 free passes. His 180 punchouts led all Division I schools. Anderson was the backbone of the Tigers as they won the National Championship. He was named Most Outstanding Player of the College World Series when he allowed just one run across 17 innings. He even tossed a shutout in the series. Anderson's fastball sits at 92-94 mph but is very effective despite its lower velocity. He mixes in a slider that can reach the high-80s, which was very effective for him this past season. Fantasy managers should view Anderson as a high-end pitching prospect. He should immediately sit at the top of the Seattle pitching pipeline that has several emerging bats, such as Colt Emerson and Lazaro Montes.--Andy Smith
