Joe Ross Placed on 15-Day Injured List with Back Spasms
Joe Ross (back) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with back spasms, reports Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer. He was replaced on the roster by Alan Rangel, who was recalled from Triple-A. Ross has appeared in 31 games this season for Philadelphia in mostly lower-leverage spots, posting a 5.28 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 44 ⅓ innings. Back spasms aren't the most serious injury, so the 32-year-old will likely find himself back in the bullpen later in the year, with him first eligible to return on August 6.
