The surprising news that Tuukka Rask was opting out of the playoffs didn’t slow down the Boston Bruins. The club defeated the Carolina Hurricanes by a score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Bruins newly-appointed starting goalie, Jaroslav Halak, stopped 29 of 30 shots. Charlie Coyle, Sean Kuraly, and Brad Marchand each had a goal in the win. Coyle and Marchand also added assists. David Krejci had two helpers. Playing on the first line for Carolina, Nino Niederreiter had the lone goal in the losing effort. Goalie Petr Mrazek was strong with just two goals allowed on 38 shots. Although falling behind in the series was a blow to the Hurricanes, the biggest loss may have been Andrei Svechnikov, who was helped off the ice late in the game with a potentially-serious leg injury. --Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
