Jameson Taillon to Make Rehab Start on Saturday
Jameson Taillon (calf) faced hitters in a 40-pitch live batting practice workout on Tuesday and is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Aug. 2, according to manager Craig Counsell. It's possible that Taillon will only need a start or two in the minors before rejoining the big-league starting rotation around the middle of August. When Taillon went on the 15-day injured list, Counsell said the veteran hurler would miss around a month. The 33-year-old veteran relies on inducing weak contact to succeed and has really seen his velocity fall in recent seasons, making him more of a liability in fantasy. Before his calf injury, Taillon had produced a 7-6 record, 4.44 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 74 strikeouts and 20 walks in 95 1/3 innings over his 17 starts. At best, he's a matchup-based streamer at this point of his career.
