Jacob deGrom Could Make Spring Debut On Monday
2 years agoIf everything goes well, Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (side) could make his Cactus League debut as early as Monday. deGrom suffered from left side tightness early in spring training and has been brought along slowly, but he sat in the upper-90s during a 35-pitch live batting practice session on Wednesday and looked good. Barring a setback, deGrom should make his way into spring games and could be ready for Opening Day in his first season in Texas. The two-time Cy Young winner has become much more of an injury risk over the last few seasons, but when healthy, there's no denying he still has ace potential. The 34-year-old right-hander hasn't made more than 15 starts in any of the last three seasons due to injuries.
