J.D. Martinez Still Out Thursday, Red Sox Shift Lineup Around
6 years agoBoston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez (back) remains out of the lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays. In turn, manager Alex Cora is doing some shifting around with the lineup for the series finale against lefty Clayton Richard. Michael Chavis will play first base and bat leadoff, while Mookie Betts will take a break from the field and serve as the DH and remain in the two spot. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts bumps up a spot to the three-hole, while Andrew Benintendi drops down from the leadoff role and will bat sixth and play center. Steve Pearce will man left and bat fifth, while Jackie Bradley Jr. will slot in at right field and bat ninth. Christian Vazquez is back behind the dish and batting seventh, followed by Eduardo Nunez, who draws the start at second and will bat eighth. The Red Sox are in a great spot to produce today against Richard, even after Wednesday's 13-inning affair. Chavis, Betts, and Bogaerts are all great DFS options, as right-handers hitting in the top of the lineup.
