Giants Bringing Up Marco Luciano
1 year agoThe San Francisco Giants are bringing up infield prospect Marco Luciano from Triple-A Sacramento to the big leagues on Wednesday, according to sources. The Giants' No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will most likely take the roster spot of AJ Pollock, who left Tuesday's game early with a side injury. The 21-year-old Dominican infielder saw 12 plate appearances earlier this year in San Fran and went 3-for-11 with a double and two runs scored. In 68 games with Sacramento and Double-A Richmond this year, Luciano hit .231/.336/.445 with 13 homers, 37 RBI and six stolen bases in 292 trips to the plate. He has plus raw power to all fields as a middle infielder but might struggle to hit for average early on. It remains to be seen how much playing time he'll get in his second stint in the big leagues.
