Garrett Crochet Starting Game 1 of Wild-Card Series
Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet will start the first game of the wild card series against the Yankees on Tuesday, reports Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald. The 26-year-old will face off against Max Fried in what could be a pitcher's duel, with both starters going into the contest with a regular season ERA below 3.00. Crochet was one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, posting a 2.59 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 255 strikeouts, and 46 walks through 205 ⅓ innings. The Red Sox haven't yet announced their plans for the second game of the series, in which Carlos Rodon is toeing the rubber for New York.
