Garrett Crochet Starting Game 1 of Wild-Card Series
Garrett Crochet will start the first game of the wild card series against the Yankees on Tuesday, reports Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald. The 26-year-old will face off against Max Fried in what could be a pitcher's duel, with both starters going into the contest with a regular season ERA below 3.00. Crochet was one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, posting a 2.59 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 255 strikeouts, and 46 walks through 205 ⅓ innings. The Red Sox haven't yet announced their plans for the second game of the series, in which Carlos Rodon is toeing the rubber for New York.
