Dolphins Agree To Terms With Jacoby Brissett
4 years agoThe Miami Dolphins agreed to terms on a one-year, $5 million deal with former New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett on Tuesday, according to an informed source. Brissett is being brought in as a backup and mentor for second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, not as competition. Brissett served as veteran Philip Rivers' backup in his final season with the Colts in 2020 and appeared in 11 games. He started 15 games in 2019 when Andrew Luck suddenly retired, compiling 2,942 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. The 28-year-old didn't turn heads as a starter in his limited time with the Colts, but he has proven to be a capable backup and will serve as insurance in Miami in case Tagovailoa's disappointing rookie campaign seeps into his sophomore season.
