Devin Williams Earns Third Blown Save Of Season
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Devin Williams was tagged with his third blown save of the season on Thursday, as he allowed two runs on three hits and one walk over one inning in a 6-5 win over the Padres. While still putting up good numbers overall this year, he hasn't repeated the success of his 2020 campaign just yet, as he has a 4.42 ERA and 1.36 WHIP this season. His big problem this year is he has been more hittable and is walking way more batters. He's nearly doubled his barrel rate this year, posting an 11.1 percent rate in 20 appearances after recording a 5.6 percent rate in 22 games in 2020, but more importantly his walk rate has shot up from nine percent to 14.7 percent. He's still putting up value with seven holds and a 36 percent strikeout rate, but it's looking like he might not live up to the expectations managers had for him this year.
