David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs Considered Co-Starters
1 year agoDetroit Lions running back David Montgomery has typically been the first running back with the offense in training camp, but rookie first-rounder Jahmyr Gibbs gets plenty of repetitions, too. The Athletic's Colton Pouncy considers them co-starters in the backfield this year. Given Gibbs' receiving skills, Pouncy expects the snap distribution to look pretty similar. The Lions can even play them on the field together. Craig Reynolds' spot as the RB3 looks pretty safe. Head coach Dan Campbell is calling Montgomery and Gibbs a two-headed monster. Detroit took Gibbs with the sixth overall pick in this year's draft, so he's going to have a significant role early on and will immediately have more fantasy upside that Montgomery, especially in PPR leagues.
