Chris Godwin Signs Franchise Tender
4 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin signed his $15.9 million franchise tender on Thursday, locking it in for the 2021 season in case he is unable to agree to a long-term contract extension with the team. While Godwin has been somewhat of an injury risk, he will remain a high-end fantasy commodity in 2021 with quarterback Tom Brady still in the fold in Tampa. The 25-year-old had 65 receptions on 84 targets for 840 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games during the regular season last year. He was a Pro Bowler in 2019, securing a career-high 86 of his 121 targets for 1,333 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns in 14 games for the Buccaneers. Mike Evans is Brady's favorite red-zone weapons, but Godwin should continue to be a high-end producer as long as he stays on the field.
