Carson Wentz Lands On COVID-19 List
3 years agoIndianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday. Since Wentz is unvaccinated, he will miss the Week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The former Philadelphia Eagle hasn't been a QB1 for fantasy managers in Indy's run-first offense, but his absence in an important AFC matchup this weekend will no doubt be a downgrade for the Colts offense as a whole. As far as running back Jonathan Taylor, the NFL's leading rusher, it's also a downgrade for him, but fantasy managers should not be outright benching him in championship week. The Colts are discussing retired quarterback Philip Rivers to replace Wentz this weekend, but it's much more likely that sixth-round rookie Sam Ehlinger takes over this Sunday. Ehlinger has taken 18 offensive snaps this year but hasn't attempted a single pass. His presence under center will be a downgrade for all of Indy's offensive weapons.
