2 years agoThe Arizona Cardinals hired Cleveland Browns quarterbacks coach Drew Petzing as their new offensive coordinator on Sunday, according to sources. The 35-year-old previously coached with the Minnesota Vikings, where he worked with new Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon from 2014-17. He's considered a rising young assistant and is expected to call the offensive plays in Arizona in 2023. Petzing joined the Browns in 2020 as a tight ends coach. Under his tutelage, David Njoku, Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant improved their pass-catching skills. The Cardinals took a massive step back in 2022 by going 4-13, and the offense ranked 21st in points scored and 22nd in yards, both its worst marks since quarterback Kyler Murray's rookie season.
