Brock Purdy's Recovery Timeline Could Change
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) will have surgery to fix a torn UCL in his right elbow on Feb. 22, and he's hoping for a six-month recovery. However, there's a scenario where the surgeon (Dr. Keith Meister) decides that additional work is necessary, which would impact Purdy's recovery time. "Everyone's saying it would be the best for just my career moving forward to get the surgery and get the repair with an internal brace," Purdy explained. "Still, there could be some question as to getting a hybrid surgery, which is reconstruction with the internal brace." If he gets the internal-brace procedure, Purdy could be ready right around training camp, but if additional work is done, he'd almost certainly be out to start the 2023 season. Even if no additional work is needed, Purdy could be behind Trey Lance in the QB competition this summer.
