Brett Baty Stays Hot, Homers Twice At High-A
4 years agoNew York Mets prospect Brett Baty went a combined 4-for-7 with two home runs and six runs driven in during a High-A doubleheader on Friday. The 21-year-old third baseman is having a monster season so far in 2021 with a .372 batting average and a 191 wRC+ through 22 games. He also has a 15% walk rate and all three of his homers have come in the past five games. Baty was the 12th overall selection of the 2019 draft and was known for having plus power but the approach at the plate has been just as impressive this season. If the Texas native continues to develop well, it could help lessen the sting of trading Jarred Kelenic, another former first-round pick of the Mets. Baty deserves dynasty league consideration.
