Braves, Johan Camargo Avoid Arbitration
4 years agoThe Atlanta Braves and infielder Johan Camargo agreed to a $1.36 million deal for the 2021 season on Wednesday to avoid salary arbitration. Camargo will turn 27 on Dec. 13 and helped the team win the first of their three straight division titles, serving as the starting third baseman for the majority of the 2018 season. He's hit just .222 with a .645 OPS while serving as mostly a backup the last two seasons, though, giving him very little fantasy appeal. Austin Riley has shown signs of being the third baseman of the future, so Camargo will continue to serve in a utility role in both the infield and outfield for Atlanta. The Braves also signed left-handed reliever Grant Dayton to a one-year deal worth $900,000.
