Brandon Belt To Begin Rehab Assignment Thursday
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (knee) plans to start a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A Sacramento, and he's expected to play in four or five games before coming off the injured list to join the first-place Giants. Belt has been feeling good and doesn't think it'll take long to get his timing back at the plate. The 33-year-old has been sidelined since June 25 with some minor structural damage in his right knee. He'll return to a .253/.363/.512 slash line, an .875 OPS, 11 home runs, 30 runs, 28 RBI and even three steals in 170 at-bats in 2021. Belt will continue being a corner infield option in deep mixed and NL-only leagues as the team's regular first baseman when he's activated. LaMonte Wade Jr. and Darin Ruf have been sharing playing time at the cold corner since Belt landed on the injured list.
