Braelon Allen is primed to operate as the Jets' RB2, which is the role that Allen secured before he sustained a season-ending MCL sprain last September. Allen was averaging 4.5 attempts/19.0 rushing yards per game before his injury, and had accumulated a team-high six attempts inside the red zone during that span. Allen also captured a higher snap share than Isaiah Davis (24%/19.8%) during those matchups, which underscored his status as the preferred backup to Hall. Allen has fully recovered and is positioned to re-emerge directly below Hall on New York's depth chart. That will also cement Allen as an insurance policy for Hall, whose unquestioned status as the Jets' lead back was confirmed when he signed a three-year, $43.5 million contract in May. Hall's presence should impede Allen from seizing a sizable workload. However, the 22-year-old Allen possesses a favorable blend of size, vision, and power. He has also bolstered his strength during the offseason, which will facilitate his ability to secure opportunities in short-yardage and goal-line situations. Allen would also emerge as New York's temporary lead rusher if Hall is sidelined for any reason. This makes Allen a viable handcuff option, even though Davis would siphon a percentage of targets during any absence by Hall. That supplies the rationale for selecting Allen at his Round 14 ADP in dynasty startups (167/RB56), along with his Round 18 ADP in best ball leagues (210/RB60).--Phil Clark
