Ben Casparius Expects to Avoid Trip to the Injured List
Ben Casparius (calf) said that his MRI exam came back negative on Wednesday and that he expects to avoid a trip to the injured list after dealing with right-calf cramping in his outing on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins, per MLB.com's Sonja Chen. It's good news, but Casparius will likely need a few days off before he's available for the Dodgers again. He was wearing a sleeve over his calf on Wednesday and walking with a bit of a limp. The 26-year-old former fifth-rounder in 2021 out of Connecticut has made 30 appearances (three starts) for the Blue this year in his second season in the big leagues and has posted a bloated 5.06 ERA (3.44 FIP) with a 1.28 WHIP, 60 strikeouts and 16 walks in 64 innings. Although his strikeout rate sits at just 22%, he's made strides in the control department with just a 5.9% walk rate.
